360 is not a prime number
It has 24 factors. The smallest prime that divides it is 2, so 360 = 2 × 180.
2³ × 3² × 5
= 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3 × 5
Divide by primes, smallest first
| Prime | Number |
|---|---|
| 2 | 360 |
| 2 | 180 |
| 2 | 90 |
| 3 | 45 |
| 3 | 15 |
| 5 | 5 |
| 1 |
How it’s calculated: divide by 2, 3, 5, 7 … while they go in. Large leftovers are tested with the Miller–Rabin prime test and split with Pollard’s rho method, so even 15-digit numbers take a moment.
