Your BMI divided by 25, the top of the WHO healthy range. Under 0.74 is underweight, and 1.00 or more is above the healthy range.
How it’s calculated
BMI is your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres, squared: 68.0 ÷ 1.75² = 22.2.
| Category | WHO | Asian |
|---|---|---|
| Underweight | Under 18.5 | Under 18.5 |
| Healthy weight | 18.5–24.9 You | 18.5–22.9 You |
| Overweight | 25–29.9 | 23–24.9 |
| Obese (class I) | 30–34.9 | 25–29.9 |
| Obese (class II) | 35–39.9 | 30 or more |
| Obese (class III) | 40 or more | Not used |
The Asian ranges come from the WHO Western Pacific Region (2000), which set lower cut-offs because health risks start at a lower BMI for many Asian people.

These formulas date from the 1970s and 80s and were made for working out medicine doses, so treat them as a rough guide; the healthy BMI range is wider and allows for build.
These numbers are screening estimates, not a diagnosis, and they aren’t meant for anyone under 18 or during pregnancy, so talk to a doctor about your own health.
